Biometrics Already Given: Why Might Canada Ask Again?
A previous biometrics appointment does not answer every future request. Why do temporary and permanent residence applications differ?
Fingerprints were provided for an earlier Canadian application. Why would another request arrive? The answer depends in part on what kind of application is now being assessed.
Are biometrics reused in every case?
IRCC distinguishes temporary-residence and permanent-residence applications. Biometrics for temporary residence are generally valid for 10 years, subject to applicable rules. Permanent-residence requirements differ: a previous temporary-residence appointment does not automatically remove a new requirement.
What does an instruction letter represent?
A biometrics instruction letter relates to the application being processed and contains its own directions and deadline. An earlier appointment date and a current instruction letter are different records.
Does biometrics collection mean approval?
Providing biometrics is a step in processing, not a decision on the application. Exemptions and application-specific instructions also exist. That is why two applicants with similar appointment histories can encounter different requests.
