An Older Police Certificate: Why Might Express Entry Still Accept It?
For Express Entry, a police certificate’s age is only part of the story. Why does current residence change how IRCC reads the issue date?
Two police certificates were issued on the same day. One may satisfy Express Entry’s timing rules while the other does not. The difference can be where the applicant lives now.
What changes for the current country of residence?
IRCC says that certificate must have been issued no more than six months before the PR application is submitted.
What about a country someone has left?
For another country, IRCC links the issue date to the last stay of six consecutive months or longer. A certificate issued after that stay may be accepted even if the issuing country’s printed expiry date has passed. An officer may still request a new certificate.
Is every past trip treated the same?
The Express Entry system generally asks for certificates covering countries where adult applicants and relevant family members stayed for at least six months in a row during the preceding ten years. Time before age 18 and time in Canada are excluded from that standard request; officers can request additional certificates.
The travel history behind a document can matter as much as its heading. Private consultations with Transfigured Immigration allow those individual details to be discussed.
